Watch the one-hour documentary, Tanforan - From RaceTrack to Assembly Center with members of your community and engage in a short conversation and Q&A with former Foster City council member, Steve Okamoto. Did you know that when the Tanforan Racetrack was converted to the Tanforan Assembly Center in 1942 it was the second largest temporary Wartime Civil Control Administration camp? Learn about the experiences of Japanese Americans who were interned in the camp via immersive interviews and archival footage. Our post-movie discussion will be moderated by Steve Okamoto, who has lived in Foster City for over 40 years and spent 50 years in the finance industry before retiring and being elected to the City Council of Foster City. This program is offered in collaboration with the Millbrae Anti-Racist Coalition (https://www.millbraearc.com) and The Tanforan Assembly Center Memorial Committee (https://www.tanforanmemorial.org).
